Sega's airborne combat series soars back into arcades with more than 20 stages of high-flying action in After Burner Climax. Players can climb into the cockpit of an F-14 Super Tomcat, an F-15E Strike Eagle, or an F/A-19E Super Hornet and speed through the skies, dodging planes, rockets, and bullets while try to target and take down as many enemies as possible. A branching storyline and time limits force gamers into split-second decisions, but once the "Climax Gauge" is full, time slows down momentarily to let pilots unleash a screen-clearing fusillade of bullets.

After Burner is an aircraft shooter that originated in the arcades. The goal is simple: use your F-14 Tomcat and shoot as many enemies as you can. This aircraft has two weapons: lock-on missiles and Vulcan cannons (basically machine guns). In some versions there is an option to let the cannons shoot automatically all the time.

The game is played from behind your Navy F-14 Tomcat as you blast oncoming fighter planes trying to bring you down. Perform complete barrel rolls by holding left or right as your machine guns continuously fire at anything in their path. Speed up by activating your afterburners or slow down to get a lock on your target. You also have a limited number of AIM-54 Phoenix missiles on board to use as you see fit, which can be replenished after completing a series of stages (a plane will fly overhead and automatically load them onto your F-14 Tomcat).

Headquarters has informed you that "the enemy" (which the game's introduction does not identify) is reported to be building airfields and bases throughout the desert. Your mission is to take out those bases, and if you get rid of a few enemy planes in the process, "so much the better".

Afterfall: InSanity is a survival-horror action game set in a post-apocalyptic world, the Afterfall universe. We are presented with an alternate timeline: Nazi Germany managed to create a nuclear bomb in early 1945, thus ending the war and forcing the allied forces into negotiations. A long period of cold war followed. Eventually, Germany detonated an experimental fusion bomb in 2012, starting World War III. The resulting nuclear mayhem forced survivors to hide in underground shelters. Albert can wield several kinds of melee weapons as well as firearms, but ammunition for the latter is scarce. Thus, hand-to-hand combat is important. He also has a flash light available. Strenuous actions like sprinting or melee attacks are limited in duration by the player's stamina, which is indicated by a corresponding bar on the HUD. There is also a mechanism called FearLock: If Albert's fear level rises beyond a certain threshold, FearLock kicks in and influences the way he performs attacks.

Afterlife is a platform action game in which the protagonist Rickard Bronson enters the shadowy dimension known as the Afterlife in order to recover ten stolen "cruciforms"; the keys which lock shut the Gates of Hell. Rickard's mode of transport on his quest is a selection of hot air balloons, which bring an airborne approach to movement in the game in addition to traditional "run and jump" movement when he is on foot. The gameplay primarily features a mixture of skill-driven combat and strategy elements, as well as a certain level of problem-solving.
