Viz: The Game is an action game where the players run through various scrolling environments. It is based on a British comic magazine VIZ which, like the game, features lots of crude humour and fart jokes. The player controls one of the 3 Viz characters - Johnny Fartpants, Buster Gonad, or Biffa Bacon. The race takes place in five different scrolling environments; country, town, building site, beach and a disco. During the race you have to dodge traps and other characters from the VIZ comics.

An update of Taito's 1981 classic, "Qix", Volfied adopts the same 'draw boxes to colour in the background' gameplay of its predecessor but updates both the graphics and in-game enemies. A number of power-ups are available, revealed when certain sections of the background have been filled, such as Speed-up, temporary enemy freeze and laser. The player's ship is only in danger from the game's enemies while the player is actually drawing a line. Each level must be completed within a tight time limit.

The main gameplay aspect is a 2D fighting game in which SNK is mostly know for. The player can choose from 10 different characters each with their own unique moves and abilities. One feature that this game has over other games in the genre is the ability to add a defeated foes special abilities to their own repertoire, however they can only do one move at a time and if they choose to change a move, the previous one is lost for the rest of the game. Additionally, when the player defeats their mirror image their move will be amplified. The player will face each opponent twice in a tournament style before reach the final boss at the end of the game.
