Psygnosis hits back with Formula 1 98 not only providing a new game engine and features but also developer Visual Science. Formula 1 98 also sports a real 1998 FIA licences insuring real tracks, cars, racers, teams, more detailed statistics and other F1 lifelike aspects. Visually Visual Science have managed to tweak field depth and reduce pop up while providing the same detailed, fast visuals the first two were known for. Players also witness the action from a new cockpit view with realistic driver head animation and new particle effects have been added to heighten realism and crash effects. Also check out startling commentary now not only with famous English commentators but also other languages provide real commentators, certainly a good option for those who prefer non-English commentary. Cars are also modelled upon 1998 versions with greater attention to detail and advertising while all tracks have been greatly improved likewise. The Interface now features a track map in arcade mode while existing car dynamics and control have been tweaked in simulation mode to appear more realistic than ever. Formula 1 98's new pit features have also been added including animated pit crew, penalties and Wipeout style pit stops in arcade mode. Psygnosis have also incorporated a new arcade challenge mode while many of the game's existing features such as modes, options and general features have been retained.

In Formula 1: Championship Edition, players select from 13 Formula 1 teams, 17 different circuits, and a variety of spec cars. To avoid crashes designed after real crash footage, players must navigate their car in and around the competition while maintaining high speeds. Gamers can select from three different modes of play including "Training," "Single Race," and "Championship," and then adjust such options as race length, skill settings, steer assist, brake assist, and sessions. Players can also adjust the setting of their cars and may choose to alter the gears, tires, suspension, brakes, and the front and rear down force. Two players can compete in split-screen multiplayer action.

F-1 Sensation is a Family Computer video game that allows players to compete with up to eleven other Formula One greats. They are divided into three levels based on real-life skill; A-level, B-level, and C-level. Each track and driver is based on the 1992 Formula One season. Pit stops are included and the crew chief tells each player when to go to his pits for tires, wing repair, and even body repair. Each race has less than ten laps - allowing for an arcade-like experience. The player can either race in a single race or an entire season. Players must qualify in order to get in the race. There are twelve positions that must be filled in each race. Real world sponors are placed on the billboards that are in the background of each race course. The player can select the official Formula One track that he or she want to race. Cars are custom made; the player can select the body type of the car, the body color, the chassis. He or she can even select his or her rival drivers. This game users mapper #4 and the TSROM board. The only difference between the European and Japanese version of the game are the locations of the screen where to look for lap and position information. All the music in the game's soundtrack sound similar to Blades of Steel and the 1989 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game. This game is called Formula 1 Sensation in Europe.

F1 is an Official Formula One Racing Game. There are two modes of play available: "Arcade", "Grand Prix". In both of these modes you complete a certain number of laps (4, 8, or 12) and select which circuit that you want to race on. The circuits include San Marino, France, Britain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Japan, and Australia. Some circuits are easy, while some are difficult. There are slight differences between the two modes. For instance, "Arcade" allows you to select the circuit in any order that you like, whereas "Grand Prix" only allows you to fine-tune your car before starting a race. You also need to race a circuit in the order that they appear on the circuit selection screen, but you can skip a track if you want.

This licensed F1 game includes all official tracks, sponsors, drivers and cars of the FIA Formula One championship. The 2004 update includes all the latest changes to the teams, up-to-date driver rosters, and also the new Bahrain and China circuits. Online multiplayer is introduced and the singleplayer mode has been extended with time attack races against ghost cars, and historic cars that can be unlocked upon completing a full championship. The career mode is another new addition. You start at the back of the grid and you have to impress sponsors and manager to earn a spot on a team. Success leads to lucrative deals, while failure gets you fired. There are four difficulty levels and gamers can race as themselves, with their name lined up on the starting grid.

Players may choose to participate in a Quick Race, an arcade-style game, a Grand Prix, which is a racing simulator, and various two-player racing options.
