Release Date: November 5, 2009   |   Genre: Fighting
The game has two styles of gameplay to work with. The Adventure Mode retells the events within both the Red Ribbon Army and early Piccolo Daimao story arcs. In this mode game functions as arcade style beat'um up and platformer, where players in the role of protagonist Son Goku, run from point A to point B fighting various enemies and bosses and hopping gaps and ledges. Players can use simple and melee type of attacks or use the Kamehameha battle. Each enemy the player takes out will earn them health, powerups, or zeni which can be used in the shop.

Known in Japan as Dragon Ball: Shenlong no Nazo (ドラゴンボール 神龍の謎 Doragon Bōru: Shenron no Nazo?, Riddle of Shenlong), in France as Dragon Ball: Le Secret du Dragon and in Spain only as Dragon Ball, the game was developed by Tose and released by Bandai in 1986. The game stars Goku and very roughly follows the first two volumes of the Dragon Ball manga, culminating in the first wish from Shenlong. The game consists of 2D overhead areas where Goku must fight many enemies and side scrolling sequences for the boss fights. It was added as bonus feature in the Japanese release of Dragon Ball: Origins 2 in 2010. In the USA the game is known as Dragon Power. Although the Japanese, French and Spanish editions of the game used the familiar art and music from the Dragon Ball anime, the US version is stated to be based on Journey to the West with no mention of Dragon Ball.[2] Goku was changed to more closely resemble an Americanized Kung Fu stereotype, being pictured on the box with a white gi and blue headband. Master Roshi has been similarly changed to look more like a traditional martial arts master. Bulma is called "Nora", Yamcha is called "Lancer", Oolong is called "Pudgy", Pilaf is called "King Minos", the Kamehameha is the "Wind Wave", and the Dragon Balls are referred to as "Crystalballs". Also, the game has been shortened; all levels that correspond with the Kung-Fu Tournament halfway through the game have been removed. Furthermore, all perverted references have been censored out; for instance, the "girl's panties" power-up (which temporarily makes Goku run fast) now resembles a triangle-cut sandwich. The European version, released in France in 1988 (and in Spain in 1992), retains the Dragon Ball license. In France, it was the first Nintendo game translated into French. However this translation includes a lot of misspellings. In Spain, the game was also released in French language, although the Spanish version specifically featured box description and instruction manual translations in Spanish language.

The player takes control of a magical human fighter who has the ability to transform himself into a flying dragon. As the fighter, the player can run, crouch, jump, and attack with his sword as he would in most side-scrolling action games. Underneath his life gauge is a "metamorphosis gauge" that will gradually be filled as the player destroys his enemies. When the metamorphosis gauge begins to flash, the player can transform into the dragon by pressing up and A button after jumping. As a dragon, the player will hover in the air while the screen scrolls automatically to the right, similarly to a side-scrolling shoot-'em-up game. The dragon's main attack is his fire breath. While the player can fly in any of the eight directions, they cannot turn around and the dragon will only face and attack to the right. While in dragon, the player's metamorphosis gauge will gradually be drained out. The player will transform back to a fighter if the metamorphosis gauge empties out completely or when the player rapidly taps the A button again. As the fighter, the player can also shoot a projectile attack by holding the B button until the character begins to flash. The types of projectile fired by the player depends on the color of the player's outfit, which can be changed by picking up certain power-up items labeled with the letters G (green, the player's default color), B (blue), and R (red). Changing the color of the player's outfit will also change the pattern of the dragon's fire breath attack. Other power-ups includes energy restoring potions, a flower that helps fill the metamorphosis gauge faster, and a ring that destroys all on-screen enemies. At the end of each stage, the player will receive a staff that will increase their maximum health. There are six stages in all, each with their own guardian awaiting to challenge the warrior at the end. The game will end if the player loses all of their life power and only three chances are provided to continue at the stage where they died before the player is forced to start all over.
