We released a rather large update to our site. This version (2.3.0) added a lot of functionality to the gaming team system, some features for our general users, and adjusted many things for us on the management side of our site. Without wasting anymore time, I am going to try and summarize some of the key changes we've made in as few words as possible.

For Our Users

We have added the ability to link your account with gaming systems and games. Right now, this acts as a simple list for you to look at, which in itself is nice, especially if you have a lot of games and want a place to see them all and keep track of them. In the future, we will be exposing these lists on your profile and looking at providing a simple service to allow you to query the list via text or mobile browsing. Ever been left standing in the middle of a game store wondering if you already own a specific game? If not, good for you, but I have.

The interface is rather simple to use and will be getting even easier in the coming updates, but for now, just go to your account and select "My Games & Systems" from the menu. There you will see a little button on the top right that allows you to add new systems to your account. Once a system has been added, you can add games to that system (though our game list is currently a little lacking... we will be getting on this soon). Once you have added some of your systems, your interface may look something like this.

For Our Gamers

If you are a gamer and did check out our team system, let me be the first to say that I know it was lacking in every way possible. This was to be a grand system on our site; a primary point of focus and interest, but on initial release, we just didn't have things properly in place. This update has greatly changed that. We have cleaned up the team pages and centralized all of the management items. We have added full features to allow better ranking structure customization and control, fully custom award creation, and team game statistic tracking. We have more to come, but this finally gives you something to work with; something to use.

Here's the centralized management options, which is very IN YOUR FACE and less scattered little links all over the team pages.

The other big point of interest is the award builder. You can actually create awards to give to your team members. For this, there was a clear need to allow flexible customization and creative thoughts to really take a visual form. So we spent a lot of time reading and trying various things until we finally landed on creating this image creator. It supports layering; each layer can hold 1 shape; and each shape can be customized in a number of ways. Check out the screen shots and form your own opinion. And I know... my award is rather bland.

Coming Soon

We have a ridiculous amount of things planned still. We are going to be starting some more large scale projects as well... which unfortunately means there is a potential for more months like March where you don't hear a lot from us. Though I hope we find away around that in the future. We will be starting the web development educational article series rather soon as well.

Features to expect seeing in the near future:

  • Better game data and more of it
  • Chats and Forums
  • Personal Blog/Journals for all our members

That's all I'm gonna say for now. Thanks for reading and enjoy the features. Post any thoughts you may have below.
