The Steam Summer Sale began yesterday. Personally, I love this event because I tend to get a lot of really great games for very little money. It's common to see items reduced by 50%, 75%, or even as high as 90% or more. Yes, there are a lot of little games that many may not have heard of; but there are a number of well known titles that will go for way less then you'd ever see anywhere else. And to be perfectly honest, I find those little games to be a lot of fun... and at $1.49, what do you have to lose?? ...except the $1.49 I mean.

Nothing more to really report here. Just an announcement and some of my thoughts. If you want to read a little about the badge system for the event, read on. Details on a special program going on for the event can be found below the badges section. If you don't know what any of this is, scroll on down to the last section here.

Badges and Trading Cards

Like other events and the Steam community itself, this event comes with badges so people can show their participation. These badges are earned by collecting trading cards. A full set of the 10 unique cards can be traded in for 1 badge. You get the cards by performing certain tasks in the event like voting or buying games. Unfortunately, the earned cards are not guaranteed to be unique, so you may need to turn to the community members to make trades and/or buy and sell the cards you need. And, I would like to add that their are multiple levels to the badge. So you really want several full sets of the cards if you can get them. Good luck!

Steam Summer Sale - Team Battle!

This year, Steam has a team system where you as a community member can join a team. If you opt to join, you're randomly placed on 1 of 5 teams - I'm on the Green Team! Your participation in the event (like, if you buy games) earns your team points! Everyday a winning team will be determined and 30 of the team members that contributed at all to the point total will be reward 3 games from their wishlist for free. The odds of your team winning and you being one of the 30 selected are low I'm sure, but it's not really any extra effort to have a shot at it if you are already participating. Anyway, best of luck to you all!
