New to my Husbands "gaming world" and not really sure what to write about, I thought that I would delve into his thoughts a little... Zombies!  He is always coming up with ridiculous situations in which I am to decide what I would do at that moment had there been a zombie apocalypse.  My answer is always that I would be the first to die; I’m not exactly a survivalist.  Fortunately for me, I think it's going to be quite some time before that happens and 2015 is bringing a handful of zombie infested games for me to practice with.  So, if anybody out there is lacking survivor skills and needs a little practice before the big zombie invasion, or just likes to destroy flesh eating corpses for the hell of it, you should probably check out some of the games on this list.

Dying Light (February 2015)

Creator - Techland
Platforms - PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, & PS4

"Dying Light is an action survival horror game presented in first-person perspective.  The game is set in a vast and dangerous open world.  During the day, you roam an urban environment devastated by a mysterious epidemic, scavenging for supplies and crafting weapons to help you defeat the hordes of mindless, flesh-hungry enemies the plague has created.  At night, hunter becomes prey as the infected grow in strength and aggression-but even more lethal are the nocturnal, inhuman predators that leave their hives to feed.  You will need to make use of all your skills and any available means to survive till dawn."  DyingLightGame

DayZ (Summer 2015)

Creator - Dean Hall
Platforms - PC, PS4, & Xbox One

Having fun playing the Arma 2 mod DayZ?  Well, you can have even more fun playing the standalone retail version set to be released in the summer of 2015!

Haven’t heard of DayZ?  In this game, you are one of the few that have survived in an open world post-soviet state that has been hit by an unknown infection and has wiped out the world’s population; you must search the vast wasteland in order to fight for your life against what is left of the population, now infected with disease.

Resident Evil (Early 2015)

Creator - Capcom
Platforms - PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, & PS4

This series returns to its roots with a re-mastered version of its original game released in 1996 and again re-made in 2002.

Not familiar with Resident Evil?  Resident Evil is a survival horror classic in which an elite task force known as S.T.A.R.S (Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine) struggle against hordes of zombies and various other mutants in a mysterious mansion.  As players explore the mansion, they will discover clues and puzzles, and depending on the player's actions, the game ends with different outcomes.

Dead Island 2 (Spring 2015)

Creator - Techland
Platforms - PC, Xbox One, & PS4

"When it comes to the apocalypse, it is all about your attitude.  Set after the events of Dead Island and Escape Dead Island, Dead Island 2 takes you to sunny California in the aftermath of the zombie outbreak.  This is Dead Island as it was always meant to be—an intense, visceral romp through the sunshine state with you and your friends in a seamless multiplayer experience.  Choose from an elite crew of heroes who are immune to the zombie virus and eager to run headfirst into the apocalypse.  Craft thousands of weapons, upgrade your vehicles, hunt for epic loot and live the dream in the ultimate slayers' paradise!"  DeadIsland2

And if you've acquired the skills to survive...

Human Element (November 2015)

Creator - Robotoki
Platforms - PC, Xbox One, & PS4

Human Element revolves around survivors in the zombie apocalypse. Players must choose from three different classes (Action, Intelligence, and Stealth) and three different identity profiles: Survive Alone, Survive with a Partner, and Survive with a Young Child.  According to the creator, "how you choose to start in the world will determine how you can engage in and impact the scenarios you will be presented with on a physical and moral level that you approach this world."

If after playing this list, you still haven't acquired a strong set of survival skills, you can talk to my husband: just post your questions and comments below... He seems to have all the answers.
