Hello fellow Looters!

I apologize for having missed you on July's unboxing event. The theme was VILLAINS and I certainly played the villain in not providing you with a view of the tasty goodies contained inside. Fear not, however, for I am back for the unboxing of the August Loot Crate!

This month, in appreciation of balance in the universe Loot Crate provided us with a HEROES crate to combat all the villains set loose in the previous month.

Let's jump right in!

The HEROES crate was a medium sized box in comparison to the others I have received.

As always, the crate is packed ever so lovingly without looking like things were strewn about. Let me clarify, I do not change how the objects are sitting in the crate for these images; they arrive like that through mailing.

You cannot fight crime or eat delicious pizza in the bright sunlight without bringing some sweet TMNT sunglasses in Donatello purple.

Next up we have a solid offering of a random Kidrobot TMNT "ooze action" figure. My crate included Donatello.

Loot Crate took some minor liberties with Deadpool's status as a mercenary and included items for him in the villain crate as well as this HERO crate. Below we see a fridge magnet of Chimichang'os, an obvious play on Deadpool's favorite food.

Honestly, I was not even aware that something like this even existed. These are apparently little wings you can lace onto your shoes and give them some much needed flair. I have yet to test whether they grant me super speed.

I feel this month's "digital" offering is a bit more substantial and possibly one that would be utilized by a broader audience. Included were 3 digital codes:

  1. A steam code for the full game Defense Grid: The Awakening
  2. A code for unlocking characters in the iPhone/Android game Doctor Who: Legacy
  3. A code for unlocking an exclusive item in Gauntlet

Even heroes have to stay fresh, especially if you're running constantly like Sonic.

Possibly the gem of the collection especially since the movie has done so well, is this Loot Crate exclusive Groot Funko Pop figure with glowing hand.

Absolutely every crate comes with a theme button as well.

Despite having said they plan to move to an all digital "reveal booklet," they haven't quite made the switch yet.

This month, we even receive some bonus functionality as the box in which everything was shipped can transform into a TMNT hideout! I have to specially note that the couch in the rightmost section is actually folded out of the floor for some 3D depth.

There she is in all her glory. As for value in this crate, one need only look at how much those Groot Funkos are selling for on eBay to see that this crate well exceeded the less than $20 subscription rate.

Thank you, dear reader, for sticking it out through yet another Loot Crate unboxing. I am not trying to persuade you to sign up so much as presenting to you what goodies can be acquired by being a subscriber to the Loot Crate monthly service.

Loot Crate has revealed that the theme for September is GALACTIC and that three of the included properties are Firefly, Star Wars, and Star Trek.

If you would like to sign up to receive a GALACTIC crate, you need to do so before September 19th:
